Hi all,

I have *FINALLY* uploaded the new front end for the website:

http://www.stargatezero.com

It pretty much contains all of the information as the previous site, some of it has been combined though.

Also, for some reason the old front end and menu from the old homepage went blank, I am not sure why. However I will see if I can restore it, as the old site is still accessible via http://stargatezero.com/old_site/

Now...

This isnt *my* website, its everyones. What kind of other content would you like to see and/or expand on the site?

Im very open to suggestions and its no problem to integrate more information, graphics etc.  The more original the information the better, I'd like to try to avoid anything thats copyrighted, although we can always link to other sites.

I originally had the idea of integrating articles written or complied by members on anything related to 2012, earth changes, the universe, etc, anything like we discuss here on the forums, so if you'd like to do that, by all means lets put something together.

Also, if you encounter any errors or corruptions on the site send me a message and let me know. I have tested the site in Firefox 3.0.4 and Internet Explorer 7.

Let me know what you think!!

I know so many people can only exist or think in one format.

I'm happy to find other sojourners enjoying jumping campfires to hear a story as it moves through the WWW.

Wow that rainbow is lovely Mabus. Did you say that was on Thanksgiving Day?

Xaos, that site looks great. Perhaps some videos discussing 2012, and then the fact that 2012 is pointed at as a turning point or stargate by more religions than just the Maya.

I bet Kephra has some good ideas.

Thanksgiving morning indeed. ARound 10:30 or so. If you look closely, you'll notice it's actually a double rainbow. I admit, I failed to capture the subtle second rainbow the way it appeared in person, but it's there. I'll work a bit at it in Aperture & see if I can't pull it up more.

To me, it didn't look so much like a linear arc. rather a dome, shaped like a drop of water. In three dimensions. (or more probably)

yep.  I'm still getting the error screen.  I didn't know I could get on until I accidentally hit home a few days ago and whalla I entered.  I miss reading the variety of posts.  Of course I could be adventurous and find a few of my own to upload.

It works fine for me guys, I have no clue what the problem could be. Summer has let me know of this too but I myself havent encountered any of the problems you all have.

If your problem is just getting into the forums from the main site just link in directly via
http://www.stargatezero.com/forum/index.php

In another day or so Im going to do some maintenance and error checking on the forums just for some general cleanup, aside from that everything Ive checked into has no problems that are fixable from my end.

However from what Ive seen, we are still getting hit by spammers trying to break our security and register, this  may be causing server load and causing downtime for the site but I have to check deeper to find out of thats the case.

Anyways, sorry its messing up for some of you, just keep trying if it doesnt work the first time, or use the home links like you have been. I am contemplating a few ideas that may help alleviate our spam/login/misc problems for good but I'll keep you posted on that.

I am wondering if it is our browsers or the version of the forum that we are viewing. My Firefox browser keeps updating itself and now I am having a hell of a time resetting all my passwords that I had on automatic. I guess this new version of Firefox loses all the cookies that you have stored. I spent over an hour this morning trying to get into my photobucket site cause I could not remember my password. I tried resetting it and never got an email update, but found out I had put in my work email from 5 years ago and no wonder I never got a new password! I finally managed to reset my account and password. I have now decided to save all these passwords and user names in a word file or something.

I have noticed that we are not getting any spammers here! So that is a good thing. I am only seeing 1 or maybe 2 visitors browsing here. I think maybe the bots can't hit the home button three times to get in. So in a way this is a very good way to stay off the radar.

I know you will have us back up and running, thanks for taking care of us Xaos.

It's beautiful here in Chi Town by the way. Supposed to be 80 tomorrow! Woo hoo!!!!

FYI  Xaos,

I'm receiving a screen that reads:

Database Error

Then in a box:     Please try again.  If you come back to this error screen,  report the error to an administrator.

And three boxes at top left are:  Home  //  Help  //  Log Out

Home brings us here.  . . . . .

Summer - it very well could be the browsers, or your computer. I just installed the new update of firefox myself but I experienced no reset in cookies or passwords.

Yes keeping copies of your user/passes in a word or txt file is a good idea, but you may want to take it a step further and get a small notebook or something and keep an extra copy there, just in case your computer crashes or who knows what, at least then you wouldnt permanently lose your info.

You may also want to consider looking in to a password manager program to track, maintain and backup your passwords. One good free option is called KeePass which you can check out here:
http://keepass.info/

It seems to have some pretty good reviews from what Ive read and you only have to make and remember ONE master password to get into the program and view/edit your information, it handles the rest by itself. You can also export your password list as a .txt file, generate extra strong passwords and all kinds of other stuff so go check it out. However Ive never personally used this specific program so any questions/help you'd need you'd have to find in their forums or help faq's.

I myself use a password manager called AI Roboform. However the free version of it only allows you to store a limited amount of information, but its along the same kind of thing and has been super useful to me since I have to deal with a large number of passwords for my job.

There is also a program/firefox extension called LastPass which you can integrate via firefox extension:
http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8542
http://lastpass.com/

The BIG difference with this program is that it also saves your information into an online encrypted database, not just your hard drive (which allows backup and restoration in case of total drive failure or allows access to your information if you're on another computer). It has a lot of good reviews as well but I personally wouldnt use it to save any kind of super personal passworded info or sites with but I see no harm in using it for forums, photobuckets etc etc.

But you and anyone else check those out Im sure youd at least find the KeePass program useful if nothing else.

Benjamin - That is weird. If it is a database error I can look in to something that may fix it though I myself still havent seen that screen O.o

I'll keep you posted though Im still looking into some things and ideas.

Thanks Xaos, those are some great ideas. Yep Benjamin and I are both still getting the same error message. And with my new toolbar where it saves the most frequently visited sites instead of saying Stargate I get Data Base error for the link. It still brings me here but I have to log in and then click on the Home button three times to pull up the index. I read somewhere of some new problem and to add :800 to the end of your address, so instead of stargatezero.com add stargatezero.com:800. I haven't tried that sounds pretty goofy to me. But who knows I will try to find that article again.

In the meantime it appears that we are definitely staying off the grid of the bots.

Heya wave

yeah it's not a user side issue ... the error message says "database" but it's generic and gives no useful information.

Xaos, you just need to look at the admin error logs for the detailed info. The forum can do some basic database repairs but you may need to login to your website control panel and use phpMyAdmin.

Also it looks like your server was updated a couple of months ago, if that was the cause you may need to talk with your server host.

Lastly I noticed the forums logo never shows for me ...

http://stargatezero.com/images/Stargate.png

... I suspect the correct address is now ...

http://xaosweb.com/images/Stargate.png

... while the true forum location is ...

http://xaosweb.com/stargatezero/forum

The logo itself is irrelevant but there may be a translation error occurring that's causing the intermittent forum error.

But like I said the Admin Error Log is the first place to look.

Oh Summer Wine, if you get an email from me you can ignore it, apparently it just took 5 hours for my activation email to arrive.
