Hello everyone. This is my first post in here. I am not quite sure why I joined yet. I haven't even read much of what others have to say in the forums. But judging from the name of topics in here, this is probably a place for people to share the knowledge.
I will be happy to speak with you people from all around the globe.
Take care and enjoy the awakening!

Thank you both! Nice to meet you as well. I wish for the best of all truth-bringing forums. It'll take a while for me to do some reading on all the subjects you are covering before I start posting stuff. It seems you have covered so much! Anyway at least I can input news and information from my local (Greek) perspective.
A few quick points of my today's Greece:
> Yes, we are also beeing spoon-fed the propaganda on a smaller scale.
> Yep, we encounter weird symbolism and never question it. (Personally not until a couple of weeks ago!)
> Yeah, we have Alpha Romeos driving around with their spooky logo.
> A good thing is that we have ancient data carved in stone all around us. You can actually feel the energy on many temples. I mean, even if someone was to take you blind-folded to one of these sites you would feel a strange vibe. Maybe we can gain something positive from this.
> A negative thing is that many usefull documentaries are only found on the internet and obviously haven't got greek subtitles. I'll be looking for transcripts for translating digitally and then maybe I could fix the mistakes... People must be informed. ... Just thinking out loud!
> There are actually a few writers uncovering cruicial historical stuff... but like the rest of the world, the whole picture is not yet presented.
Hmm, lemme find out more and will keep you all posted.
Peace.

WoW! What a way to build a gap across the ocean! Welcome and thank you for the insight to what is happening in Greece.
Sadly, this is a global thing.

Hi Alexander, nice to meet you. It's always refreshing when a new member joins,
but especially so when they're from a country not yet represented here at SGZ...
I appreciate that you have already given us insights from another place on Earth,
and look forward to hearing about things over in Greece; one of the elder states!
Which leads right into my first question for you, Alexander. (do you prefer that or
Alex or maybe even Al?) I'm very curious to know - what is taught about
Θήρα
?
What level of school is the topic first brought up? What do various 'social groups'
in Greece think about the future regarding that? (academics, theologians, etc.) It
would be wonderful to know also any personal research you might have done.
Thanks and welcome to SGZ!

Hello all. Hi Human Being!
I allready feel welcome.
The name "Alex" is ok I suppose.
What is taught at schools about Θήρα hm?... Well, Santorini (as we generally call it) appears to me to have an even more fascinating history than I had first thought. I have recently found it strange that there seem to be gaps in the story of the 1650BC massive erruption. Surely a researcher on the specific subject will have more insight. As a matter of fact, the study of the island must become part of my research. Unfortunately I can't actually quote what was told at school when I was a kid because I was a bit of a rebel back then and I can't remember much.
But to answer some of your questions.
The introduction to the history of the island is first introduced in the third school season for youngsters in all greek schools. That's to say for children 8-9 years of age. It is then programmed to re-appear in more detail and chronological order in later hi-school years. I think at the age of 14-15 or so. The books more or less say that Thira (Santorini Island) was destroyed by the erruption and that a huge wave was generated from the blast that not only reached the island of Crete, but also splashed over to the other side of Crete. It is said that the people managed to leave in time before the erruption. I am looking on the net at the moment and on the excavation site in the Minoan city called Akrotiri (in Santorini), no bodies we found and moveable objects had been taken from the city.
I have personally been on vacation on the island a few years ago with a girlfriend, so I can't actually say it was a research trip! But what I found out and it's quite cool to know, is that the volcano is still active and a few times as well as in 1950 it has errupted again and has formed a central little rock-island. There's an hourly boat trip from Phira (the main town) to and from the new black rock island at the center of the caldera. There isn't a huge hole to peer into. There are actually a few smoothed-out holes that produce sulphur steam (I think it's sulphur).
Please tell me what you might have in mind about this island. It never crossed my mind to look at it in any other way other than a romantic destination with the best-looking sunsets you can find. For the first time I just saw a link about some researchers believing that Θήρα is "associated" with Atlantis. Fill me in on this one if that's the case! Quality links are fine.
Now the sad bit: In the news these days in Greece we see alot of arguing about the new set of History books in greek schools. They have been re-written (nooo, really?) and are very misleading. Hopefully they won't be accepted. But the really interesting thing that's bugging me, is, why now?! Way make any changes now in the year 2007, be it part of the evil plan or not. It's a bit late isn't it?! Anyway, it's minor compared to other horrible things that are going on around us.
A last comment on Θήρα (pronounced Thee-ra)... As I shamefully haven't done any research on this island that is so easily accessible from Athens, I can't say I have received opinions from academics on the whole subject. But during the following weekend I'll be casually meeting a historian. I'll find out what aspects of history are his speciality and will work my questions around that.
I'll try and keep in touch as soon as possible.

Alex, good to hear back from you so quickly! It's weird, I was just looking up someone I went to high school with on my last visit to my parents. His name is Alex and he's Greek too! His mother runs a little coffee shop/internet caf? in our hometown, and as we were leaving I decided to stop in and ask about him. I supplied her with my email & phone and hopefully she can pass it on next time he visits. So it's really uncanny that I'm meeting you so soon after that.
My interest in the Thira eruption is mainly because it happened around 1650BC. I want to know more about things that happened during that time frame, because from what I already know many civilizations had a rebirth of sorts. I believe that many civilizations at that time experienced "Earth Changes" caused in part or whole by a "single" influence. Not really sure if "Atlantis" was destroyed then or long before. But something major happened back then and the side effects were felt worldwide to varying degrees. This event was approximately 3650 years ago, give or take 50 years. So having even better knowledge about the various world events at that time, that's what I like. I sense that you can teach us all about the Thira eruption and how it has affected Greek culture through the ages even into today. The way our American "secret societies" have rituals in honor of certain symbols and historic events, I would guess that in Greece there are similar groups among the extremely wealthy/powerful which may "revere" Thira. And the theologians, how do they figure the known truth about Thira into the abstractions of religion and the bible? What about the "fringe" as it's called over here, the people with fully open minds who are more likely to have interest in conspiracy/ paranormal/ alien phenomena - what do these alternative researchers in Greece think about Thira? I must admit that I think a celestial object of some kind became visible more and more in the sky, and somehow caused a bunch of destruction in many places on Earth, then got smaller and smaller in the sky as it "disappeared"?? but of course "what goes up must come down" and someday we should expect something very strange to appear in the sky. I think there's a chance I am living in that time, though I don't know if 2012 is the year or not. Survivors of a catastrophe generally pass on stories about it, explaining events in the best frames of reference they have. Over time these stories become "legends" and "myths", and I think there are details about what happened encoded in Greek mythology, just as there are in the Egyptian, Sumerian, and many other mythologies. Perhaps this discussion is better suited to its own thread in the appropriate forum. If you'd like to Alex, start a thread about Thira in the science area of SGZ, and we can get into the topic fully there.

Actually, I have asked my wife back than to marry me at this specific spot and fortunately she said yes! We have also walked on the volcanic island in the middle and when you see the surroundings of Santorini Island from a distance you can get an idea about the forces at play that made this island look like it is today. Santorini erupted massively , almost unimaginable if you look at the remains.
Have you seen the famous profile of an Indian face in the rocks when you took the boat trip? like an old indian who saw what happened and knew

Yes Human Being, interesting stuff. If you get in toutch with Alex, ask him about Halandri and Voujas. You never know, it might be a strange coincidence!
Dutch, hi. I didn't see the indian face on the rocks. Sounds very inspiring. Ah, I feel like going to the island in the summer! Collecting info, taking pictures and absorbing some of the vibe.
Wookie!
Now, until I can get my hands on more info, I think a good idea would be to start a topic asking everyone on the forum to add a simple post each. Each post ought to be kept short so we can all browse through the titles easily. The body of each message could contain a short story of what happened and when, followed by the books or links the info originated from.
example below:
TOPIC: What happened globally in around 1650 BC ?
Alex:
Massive volcano erruption in Santorini/Greece.
text - text - text
www.links.com
, book such'n'such, book so'n'so.
Helen:
Earthquake blah-blah-blah.
text - text - text
www.links.com
, book such'n'such, book so'n'so.
Ok, it seems a bit strict, but my point is that we could all add something to the list making sure it hasn't been mentioned by others. We may then get browsable info bars about what might have happened back then... Just and idea.
The wonderful thing about the internet is, you can use so many search engines and find amazing info, not necessarily on the first page of results. And there are allways refferences to various books.
Now, Human Being, it'll take a while for me to get my act together and do some research using the criteria you mentioned. It's not the easiest thing to do, to get in contact with good-enough researchers over here. I hope I am wrong because either way I'm allready involved! So, fingers crossed (hmmm). The last part of your post was really interesting. Because I'm new to this ("this" beeing our
real
history), what kind of object in the sky do you have in mind? You are right, we should go into this in more detail and maybe in a new topic.
Hello
Kephra
... I really don't know in how many places the name of the god "Ra" might be hiding. I have never thought much about it. There is always a possibility that Theera might be such a place but as I haven't encountered the obviously clear use of "Ra" in my day-to-day surroundings of Athens, I can't be sure.

I gotta be quick, but I wanna get back to this topic with y'all - especially Alex.

Quote
TEL HABUWA, Egypt - Egyptian archaeologists showed off white pumice Monday that they theorize was swept onto the northern Sinai desert by a tsunami triggered by the ancient volcanic eruption on Santorini island 530 miles away.
Traces of the solidified lava foam from the eruption have been found on the island of Crete and in southwestern Turkey, but the archaeological team now believes it also reached the Sinai site where they were digging at an ancient fort 4 miles from the Mediterranean coast.
The Santorini explosion in the 17th century B.C. was devastating. It sank most of the now-Greek island and killed more than 35,000 people of a thriving Minoan community.
The head of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, Zahi Hawass, said the discovery of the pumice would open a new field of study in Egyptology.
"Geologists will help us study how ... natural disasters, such as the Santorini tsunami, affected the Pharaonic period," he said.
